Rehab Jigsaw: Supporting health in work with Occupational Therapy

Lisa works directly with businesses to support employees to manage health conditions in the workplace.

Rehab Jigsaw work directly with businesses to support employees to manage health conditions in the workplace. We help businesses to retain staff with valuable skills and experience through our occupational therapy and coaching approaches to work and health. We focus on ability and practical solutions when health impacts work performance.

We are passionate about work as a health outcome and supporting people to remain in work. We recognise the benefits of employment –  financial, social, psychological and societal. We are experts in helping people to do what matters to them and for many, this includes being able to work. Many employers have access to Human Resource personnel and Occupational Health services, but what about those SME’s who do not? How do they know what to do to support their employees who may have, or acquire a health condition through illness or injury?

Do you have an employee who is struggling at work due to a health condition? Are they struggling to undertake components of their work due to the health condition?  What can you, as an employer do to support one of your largest assets – your staff?

People do not need to be 100% fit to engage with work and a goal may be to enable the employee to safely remain in or return to work wherever possible.

As Occupational Therapists, we are uniquely placed health care professionals with core skills of task analysis, or functional assessment of tasks, or “occupations”, essential to daily living, and which provide a sense of purpose and meaning. We are dual trained in both physical and mental health conditions. We can also address cognitive and difficulties associated with neurodiversity. We provide holistic assessments to identify barriers to job demands and identify strategies to assist people to become more independent.

We provide specialist support to enable people to return to and sustain their employment. We focus on function to provide practical solutions and provide advice on reasonable adjustments and on absence management. Our intervention can improve lives, prevent ill-health and injury, educate employees and employers, treat the individual and save businesses money.

Specifically, we can help to provide advice in regard of:

  • Fitness for work
  • Return to work following a period of absence and potential reasonable adjustments, including the environment, use of equipment, adjusted job role/hours
  • Identifying strategies to assist people to become more independent.
  • Rehabilitation –  what actions could be taken to help with preparing to return to work or sustaining work
  • Future attendance and performance

Guests and members regularly get the opportunity to find out more during open networking, 1 to 1s or through one of their 10 minute presentations at the weekly meetings.
